Silk Mill

A gem of industrial heritage in beautiful, rural Hampshire.

The oldest Silk Mill in the UK still in its original building, a Georgian water mill that weaves silk using 19th century machinery.

A building set in a stunning location with the river test coursing around it. Standing on its banks and surveying the building in all its glory, you can not help but feel immense admiration and respect to the generations that went before us that undertook such a feet of engineering and produced a building that is still a testament to them long after they are gone. Needless to say we are pretty pumped here at Excel to be playing a part in the exciting works being undertaken. A site of special scientific interest and being surrounded by water poses certain issues from a construction perspective all of which the team have enjoyed being involved with and we are also well aware how insignificant they are in comparison to our forefathers who built it some 218 years ago. AWESOME!!!!
